Letter from a Happy Client

3/17/04

I went to the doctor's office with a heart rate of 90 bpm (my normal rate is 60 bpm) that  lasted for well over six hours and would not slow down no matter what I did.

The diagnosis was hyperthyroidism. I was diagnosed with the auto-immune form of hyperthyroidism known as Grave's Disease. There are experimental, but no proven, treatments for this particular autoimmune disorder.

The doctor recommended radioactive iodine. This would slow down the production of thyroxin and shrink the goiter on the left side of my thyroid. From what I have read, radioactive iodine can cause problems in the thyroid later, including cancer.

I chose diet and herbal therapies. Debbie Markel was extremely helpful with advice on foods to eat and avoid. She also made a tincture with herbs that are known to slow the production of thyroxin--which is the only thing drugs could do. I took the tincture faithfully and made some very minor diet changes. I also went through a course of acupuncture treatments. (As with anything, a multifaceted approach is best.)

After three months, thyroid tests came back normal. (Not to mention my liver function improved). The doctor and nurses were astounded with my results and wrote down the herbs Debbie had given to me.

Herbs do work. I had no side effects and I do not have to worry about what will happen  to me later. The endocrinologist says that I will not have to take the herbs for the rest of my life. If, after one year the tests still come back normal, I will need no further treatment. I will, of course, maintain the diet changes since I think that's what got me there in the first place. But the advice and care of a great Herbalist helped correct the problem very quickly and smoothly.

Thank-you so much Debbie,

ShawnMarie Kerley
